There’s a way to start a day in Alvor that beats pretty much every other option: arrive at Eden, eat breakfast, play mini golf, and leave already a little smug about how well the morning went.
Eden’s Breakfast Set combines a full cooked breakfast with a round of mini golf – the idea being that you fuel up properly before tackling the 18-hole tropical course, or alternatively, work up a hunger on the course first and then sit down to reward yourself. Either order works. Eden doesn’t judge.
The breakfast itself sets the bar. Think of the option of a proper English breakfast or Eden breakfast – the kind that keeps you going until afternoon, when you realise you’re hungry again and the snack menu in the courtyard suddenly looks very appealing. For regulars to Alvor who come back year after year, breakfast at Eden is already a tradition: it’s been a start-of-holiday ritual for a lot of families, and equally a pleasant, unhurried way to spend a morning that doesn’t demand much of anyone.
There is a restaurant terrace that overlooks the mini golf course, which means even the act of eating breakfast here comes with the option of a view of tropical greenery and the distant silhouette of the Eden Kong watching over proceedings. It’s a beautiful backdrop.
For families, the morning timing is smart. The course is cooler early on, the kids are still enthusiastic, and nobody has yet melted in the Algarve heat. But a quick reminder for those wanting the heat and the joy of a pool afterwards, we have that too.
Practically speaking: Eden is open from 10am to 11 pm daily, and longer during summer. If you’re staying anywhere in Alvor or the wider Portimão area, this is genuinely one of the more enjoyable ways to spend a morning. Not because it’s extraordinary… though the tropical garden with its 2,000 plants and its talking tree is arguably that… but because it’s the kind of morning where everything is easy going and enjoyable. Those mornings are worth having.
