If you’re staying in or around Alvor and want ideas for a day at one place that’s actually satisfying – Eden Alvor is worth building a day around.
Here’s how it can look.
Start with breakfast. Eden opens at 10am and the restaurant does a proper cooked breakfast — full plate, coffee, and/or a juice. The terrace overlooks the tropical garden where the mini golf is, which means you’re eating in a genuinely nice setting before the day gets hot. This is a calm, tranquil start.
After breakfast, if you’re with kids (or if you’re adults who don’t need much encouragement), head to the mini golf. The 18-hole course runs through more than 2,000 tropical plants, with a waterfall, animatronic characters, and ambient sounds of birds and monkeys and lions woven through the garden. It takes about 45 minutes at a normal pace.
From there, the courtyard is right there. Foosball, air hockey, arcade games, pool table. Kids who’ve finished the golf can keep going; adults can sit down with something cold. There’s a snacks menu if the morning has made people hungry again.
If you want a quieter afternoon that helps you enjoy the algarve sun, the pool is a good option. Eden’s outdoor saltwater pool is heated year-round – it sits at around 29 to 30 degrees, which sounds like a lot until you remember this is the Algarve and 30 degrees in the water in summer is actually still cool and refreshing, but not freezing cold – and is the appropriate response to the temperature on land.
The pool area also offers massages that can also be booked on-site, which is the kind of thing you tell yourself when you want to relax after the day’s activities.
Finish the day at the restaurant. The menu takes local ingredients seriously, the wine list is put together with care, and the terrace in the evening – overlooking the lit-up mini golf course – is a genuinely pleasant place to be. If you’re up for it, another round of golf at night brings that extra magic. But you can read more about that here.
That’s a full day. Golf, games, pool, massage, dinner – leaving most people pleasantly surprised by the gem they found right here in Alvor, and wanting to return again.
